Grounded in Experience: Agricultural Experts Powering Proven Results

Rooted in Agriculture: Where Knowledge Meets Results
At Hansen Auction Group, agriculture isn’t just an industry, it’s a way of life. Our team’s success comes from a lifetime of hands-on farming experience, turning real-world knowledge into results our clients can trust. From hands-on experience in the fields to leading some of Wisconsin’s largest agricultural auctions, a few of our AG specialists bring a depth of knowledge that can only come from years of dedication and hard work.
Few represent that connection better than Jerry Bates and Parker Massie, two trusted professionals whose agricultural roots run deep and whose commitment to farmers drives every auction they lead.
Jerry Bates: A Lifetime on the Land
Jerry’s farming story began at age 11, helping his grandpa milk cows and work the fields. Those early lessons shaped his dedication to hard work, family, and values that guide him to this day.
Alongside his wife and father-in-law, Jerry farms 225 acres of corn and soybeans in Wisconsin and is a partner in operating a 6,000-tap maple syrup family business. His hands-on experience from dairy farming to grain operations, gives him a unique perspective on what it takes to make a farm thrive.
"It's incredibly rewarding to see the results of your hard work and feel a sense of accomplishment. It also provides a clear picture of what went well, what could have been done differently, or how uncooperative mother nature was that year.”
That same mindset defines Jerry’s work at Hansen Auction Group. With 15 years of dairy farm ownership, extensive grain farming experience, and nearly two decades in grain marketing and operations, he doesn’t just understand the market value of your equipment, he understands its real-world value.
When you’re ready to sell your farm or agricultural equipment, partner with someone who knows the land as well as you do. Check out Jerry’s latest farm auction, Kauffman Farms Equipment Reduction Auction in Cameron, WI ending tomorrow, Thursday, October 16th, starting at 6:00pm.
Parker Massie: Turning Experience into Opportunity
Growing up on his grandpa’s dairy farm, Parker learned early on the dedication and hard work that defines Wisconsin agriculture. When the farm transitioned to cash cropping in 2008, he stayed involved, purchasing his first beef cow in 2010 and continuing to maintain a small beef herd to this day.
After earning a degree in Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Business from UW–River Falls, Parker combined his agricultural roots with a business mindset. He still raises beef cattle and hogs on the home farm, marketing locally to family, friends, and neighbors.
Today, as a Sales Representative with Hansen Auction Group, Parker leads two major Custom Operator and Manure Equipment Auctions each year in March and December, along with other agricultural equipment auctions across the Midwest. His deep industry knowledge and understanding of what both buyers and sellers need make him an invaluable partner for anyone looking to sell with confidence.
“I’ll never forget those summer days riding in the tractor with my dad,” Parker recalls. “That’s where my love for the land and machinery truly began.”
With five years at HAG, Parker brings unmatched expertise and customer care to every sale. “Our marketing department is second to none,” he says. “We know how to get your equipment in front of the right buyers, and we make the process simple, even offering on-site consignment options.”
Parker’s lifelong connection to agriculture and his commitment to supporting Wisconsin’s custom operators make him the perfect lead for the 4th Annual Wisconsin Custom Operators, Inc. (WCO) Fall Auction. Whether you are looking to sell a single piece of equipment or an entire fleet, Parker is ready to help you maximize your return. His hands-on knowledge of agriculture, paired with Hansen Auction Group’s marketing strength, ensures your auction experience is smooth, successful, and stress-free.
